Story

From backpacks to cupboards, tabletops to window panes and pencil boxes to exercise books, she had Chandni written everywhere. She revered a character from another time and set of sensibilities. She liked her agency and tenderness and was obviously smitten by her beauty. It all came together in that iconic scene, where the character of Chandni was spotted in a white chiffon saree. It was as if a vision had struck her.

Chandni was her major girl crush. It’s not for nothing that people say, “Bollywood lives in the heart of every Indian.”

Years later, as a grown-up, young and confident woman, she recreated that look in a white sequined saree.
